Training that happens on the farm, not only in the classroom.

Participants establish demonstration plots, test soil, raise seedlings, install water systems, collect field data, market produce and complete a real community project under supervised instruction.

Field-first programme model

Every module must produce visible evidence of learning.

Participants do not receive credit for attendance alone. They must complete supervised tasks and submit proof of practical competence.

12-week practical cohort

From bare ground to harvest, sales and community impact.

The schedule can be adapted to local crops, climate, school calendars and available land.

Week 1Farm site assessment

Measure the plot, inspect drainage, identify water access, record GPS location and photograph the site.

Week 2Soil testing and land preparation

Test texture and pH where possible, identify erosion risks, prepare beds and plan plot layout.

Week 3Nursery and compost

Mix growing media, establish a nursery, sow seed, label varieties and begin a compost unit.

Week 4Transplanting and spacing

Harden seedlings, transplant correctly, apply mulch and record plant population.

Week 5Water management

Install a simple drip or controlled watering system and compare water-use methods.

Measure plant height, count leaves, record rainfall and maintain a weekly growth log.

Week 7Pest and disease scouting

Inspect leaves and stems, identify symptoms, document findings and apply safe integrated controls.

Enter field observations, inputs and expenses into a simple spreadsheet or mobile record.

Week 9Applied technology

Use weather information, GPS, mobile photography and available sensors to support decisions.

Harvest safely, weigh produce, grade quality, reduce losses and prepare products for sale.

80% attendance

Participants must be present for required demonstrations and supervised practice.

Each learner completes the required field, digital and enterprise tasks.

Community project

Teams deliver a real project with a clear local benefit and measurable result.

Practical assessment

Learners demonstrate selected skills directly to an assessor.

Final showcase

Participants present results, challenges, lessons and future plans.

Required community project

Every cohort leaves something useful behind.

Possible projects include a school garden, composting station, drip irrigation demonstration, tree nursery, digital farm-record system, farmer awareness session or nutrition garden.
